This photo was purchased at Main Street Flea Market in Mountain View, Arkansas on August 7, 2015. The pencil caption on the back says “Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to the Bryans. Warren D. Forster.”
A name search at FamilySearch.org resulted in finding Warren D. Forster listed in the 1930 and 1940 censuses, residing in Tulsa, Oklahoma and working as an accountant for an oil company. He was born about 1892 in Texas and was married to Zou Ella Forster. They had two daughters, Gwendolyn, born about 1917, and Elouise, born about 1921. Findagrave.com lists Warren Forster as dying in 1958 and buried in Tulsa, Oklahoma with a birth year of 1891.
I found Gwendolyn Forster on a family tree at Ancestry.com. I emailed, Kim, who posted the tree, asking if she could get me in contact with a descendant. She quickly replied that she is a friend of Dave’s, Gwendolyn’s grandson and a great-grandson of Warren. Today Dave Carney called me, excited to get the message from Kim. Although he and his mother, Barbara have photos of Warren, they do not have this particular photo. Dave added that Warren D. Forster became Executive Secretary of Sun Oil so all the old stock certificates are signed by him. All the family moved away from the Tulsa area, with Gwendolyn moving to California in the late 1940’s. Dave and his mother reside in Arizona. Dave added that his 17 year-old son, Bryson, bears a strong resemblance to his g-g grandfather.
The photo of this handsome, successful guy will be mailed back to family. It’s made its rounds from Oklahoma to Arkansas and is now headed for Arizona!
