I believe this photo was purchased in Missouri. The back caption reads “aunt Melanie Sunderwirth. Melane Lauer.” I searched for this name on FamilySearch.org and found a likely match, a profile for a Melanie Lauer (1851-1922) who married Frederick William Sunderwirth at St. Paul’s Evangelical Church, Little Berger, Roark Township, Gasconade County, Missouri. on January 20, 1870. The dress style in this photo seems to be in the corresponding era. Melanie died in Rockville, Bates County, Missouri which is in the Kansas City area. I’ll message some of the contributors to her FamilySearch profile to see if they are a descendant.

I am a distant relative. I am a Lauer and we are related if you go back to Franz Louis Lauer who is my great great grandfather. Franz would have been her father and he came from the Lauterbourg, Strasbourg area to the United States around 1838. Lived in Hermann, Missouri the rest of his life

I don’t have any up to date info on any of her now descendants. If you can’t find a descendant of hers, I’d love to give her photo a home among what I have on the above ancestors of ours.
