I found a collection of photos at an antique store in Shirley, Arkansas. I bought two of the photos and the wedding invitation from 1932. Laverna Arlene McNeal married Lloyd W. Rice in Bethany, Missouri and the bottom left notation says they would be “at home” in New Sharon, Iowa. I was able to find William Lloyd Rice in FamilySearch who married Lavurna McNeal. Her given name had a slight spelling variation but the names and locations matched. I found that the Wanda L. Rice as captioned on her photo was a sister to Lloyd. Of note, is that Laverna died in 1970 and is buried in Iowa. Her husband, Lloyd, lived until 2000 and is buried at Maumelle, Arkansas. His FindAGrave entry indicates he had remarried. The proximity to his place of death may explain why the photos landed about 67 miles away in Shirley, Arkansas. I’ve found the name of Lloyd and Laverna’s children and will next try contacting a son…hoping the phone number works!
UPDATE: I contacted the son of Lloyd and Laverna. His wife replied and said they aren’t interested in the old photos. It happens rarely, thankfully… to find a disinterested descendant. Perhaps a descendant will find this through a Google search and contact me about it. I’ll see about locating any descendants of Wanda L. Rice. The search is still on.
